Update – Proposed Regulation Changes Posted - Thursday, April 10, 2008

The new proposed changes in Correspondence School regulations are posted on the Department of Education and Early Development's (DEED's) website. These regulations propose a way that children in statewide homeschool programs, with approval of their governing district, can receive increased funding for music, art and P.E.; however, now place restrictions on funding for children enrolled with in-district programs that were not there in the past.

The DEED cited that more than half of the in-district programs were out of compliance and therefore required more diligent oversight. They also hoped to address the requests for parity from statewide programs. The Correspondence regulations include the requirement of four fundable courses and restrictions on passes.
